A 13-year-old Cork boy who received serious burns while sniffing petrol has been transferred to the special burns unit at Our Lady’s Hospital for Sick Children in Crumlin, Dublin.

The boy burned 42% of his body.

It is understood they were sniffing petrol from plastic bottles and using cigarette lighters to heat the liquid to make it vaporise more quickly, when some of the petrol caught fire and exploded on his chest and stomach.

Neighbours and gardaí who were called to the scene extinguished the boy’s clothing using a fire extinguisher and he was taken to Cork University Hospital where his condition is described as critical.

A nude photo of French first lady Carla Bruni-Sarkozy, standing in a pigeon-toed pose and covering her modesty with her hands, was sold  in New York for $US91,000 ($A98,039), more than 20 times its expected price.

A buyer for a Chinese art collector bought the black-and-white image, taken by photographer Michel Comte in 1993 during her modelling days, Christie’s auction house said.

The sale of the photo has attracted attention since Bruni married French President Nicolas Sarkozy in February.

The photo had been expected to fetch between $US3,000 and $US4,000.

MOUNT HOLLY – New charges of sex acts with cows have been brought against a Moorestown policeman who last week was charged with sexually assaulting
three girls.

Officer Robert Melia Jr., 38, of Moorestown, remained in Burlington County Jail on Tuesday with bail of $510,000.

Superior Court Judge John Almeida raised Melia’s bail $10,000 as a result of the addition of four charges of cruelty to animals, which is a felony punishable by up to 5 years in prison and a $15,000 fine.

Kevin Morgan, an assistant county prosecutor, said in court Tuesday that the cruelty charges involve sex acts with cows between June and December 2006
at an undisclosed location in Southampton.
Melia and his former girlfriend are charged with three counts of aggravated sexual assault and one count of criminal sexual contact on three girls at his home between 2003 and 2006. The ex-girlfriend, Heather Lewis, 32, of the 200 block of Stocktons Bridge Road, Pemberton Township, remains in jail on $300,000 bail.

Yes I do ! but I’m sorry I cant back any organization fully that is so willing to hide and deny life threatening issues. The frum world is so quick to jump up and yell look what we did in front of the whole damn world when they accomplish something good, but when its a negative issue they should be working on and fixing, they all walk away like “oh that’s not my garbage” and dammit it is there mess ! A community is not a community if they cant stick together through the happiness, good times, sadness and shame.

KINSHASA (Reuters) – Police in Congo have arrested 13 suspected sorcerers accused of using black magic to steal or shrink men’s penises after a wave of panic and attempted lynchings triggered by the alleged witchcraft.

Reports of so-called penis snatching are not uncommon in West Africa, where belief in traditional religions and witchcraft remains widespread, and where ritual killings to obtain blood or body parts still occur.

Rumours of penis theft began circulating last week in Kinshasa, Democratic Republic of Congo’s sprawling capital of some 8 million inhabitants. They quickly dominated radio call-in shows, with listeners advised to beware of fellow passengers in communal taxis wearing gold rings.

Purported victims, 14 of whom were also detained by police, claimed that sorcerers simply touched them to make their genitals shrink or disappear, in what some residents said was an attempt to extort cash with the promise of a cure.
